The TLC’s recent regulations have had an impact on the number of active drivers we can have on the road compared to passenger demand. While the city’s goal is to alleviate congestion, we remain focused on maintaining a balance between fair driver pay, and affordable rider fares.
As a result, we’ve recently had to monitor our utilization rate, which is a measure of your time spent in a ride, compared to your time spent online without a rider in your car.
To make improvements to the utilization rate, you may have already seen some changes in the Juno app:
To ensure that your time is being used effectively while maintaining enough available drivers for riders, Destination Filter is unavailable on weekends.
Availability in airport queues is limited based on demand. You may have to exit the waiting area to go online again and receive rides elsewhere. At any time, tap the Airport pin to see if the queue is currently full, or to see how many drivers are currently waiting.
Similar to how airport queues are managed, the ability to remain Online in areas with low demand may be affected by the TLC regulations. If you’re waiting for a ride in an area with no ride requests for 30 minutes, you’ll be placed Offline and encouraged to try another location.
